The exhibition “Green City” drew attention – especially from the young citizens of Surabaya and Jakarta – to the challenges of rapid urbanization. It presented competent partners and innovative idea generators from the fields of technology, research and science and encouraged a transfer of knowledge between German and Indonesian participants through a diverse seminar programme.
In addition to the exhibition and seminar programmes, preliminary activities already began in July – among others, the competition “Green City, Solution for the Future”, that was held at more than 250 educational institutes throughout Indonesia. Students were asked to submit works dealing with topics such as water supply, waste disposal and energy efficiency. For each category, three winners were announced. Their inspiring works showed possible solutions and also became part of the exhibition “Green City”.
Green City Indonesia was organized by EKONID (German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce) in collaboration with Atma Jaya University in Jakarta and Pembangunan Nasional Veteran University in Surabaya.
