The Berlin Radio Choir is Germany’s oldest radio choir. The recipient of, among others, three Grammy Awards as well as two ECHO classic awards, it belongs to the most renowned professional choirs worldwide. As an ensemble with 63 permanent singers, it stages around 60 concerts annually mesmerising German and international audiences with its distinctive sound quality that combines fluidity, warmth and precision.
The German Season invited the Radio Choir Berlin to Indonesia for a cooperation with Indonesian choirs. Together with the Paragita Choir of Universitas Indonesia from Jakarta, the Choir of Universitas Padjadjaran from Bandung and the e Deum Voice Choir from Medan, the Radio Choir Berlin prepared an ambitious German-Indonesian programme.
The successful programme, which was created based on partnership and exchange, was presented in concerts in all three cities. As a moment of surprise, the concerts featured participative elements, during which singers among the audience were invited to accompany the choirs. In total, 3300 enthusiastic visitors came to the concerts.
